Greyhounds pair unstoppable tenacity with something bigger than bragging rights.
At ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø, physical activities—from competitive sports to personal fitness—are intertwined with education and the drive to become the best version of yourself. It all goes back to the Jesuit concept of cura personalis: To serve the world to the best of your ability, the body must be cared for with the same focus and energy as the mind.
That’s why so many members of the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø community value wellness and make it a priority to engage in active lifestyles—on campus and beyond. From our decorated Division I programs to flag football on Diane Geppi-Aikens (DGA) Field; from yoga on the Quad to biking the Jones Falls Trail through Baltimore or hiking the miles of wooded trails that run adjacent to ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø’s Evergreen campus, there are plenty of ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle, stretch, move, get some fresh air, take a break from studying, and meet your wellness goals.
NCAA Division I Sports
The Greyhounds are an undeniable athletic force. ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø’s 18 NCAA Division I varsity sports teams compete in the Patriot League, a unique collection of highly selective, academically rigorous colleges and universities linked by common values—as well as our hunger for competition; institutions, like ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø, focused on providing the highest quality education. In fact, ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø's student-athlete graduation rate is ranked in the top six nationally among NCAA Division I schools (and has been for nearly two decades).
Intramural Sports
Intramural sports at ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø is one of the largest activities on campus, providing thousands of students looking for some friendly competition a great opportunity to get—or stay—involved in a sport of their choice. Popular intramural programs include flag football, ultimate Frisbee, basketball, indoor and outdoor soccer, volleyball, and softball, and pop-up tournaments for dodgeball, badminton, and table sports are organized throughout the year.

Club sports bridge the gap between intramurals and varsity athletics, allowing students to enjoy a higher level of commitment and athletic competition without the demands of a Division I team. ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø offers more than two dozen club sports teams—including swimming, ice hockey, sailing, rugby, lacrosse, baseball, and softball, to name just a few. All are run by students and compete at the local, regional, and national levels.
